Indigenous schoolgirl among two violated

Barely two months after a Garo woman was gang-raped in a moving microbus while returning home from her workplace in the city, a 12-year-old indigenous schoolgirl was reportedly raped by a young man in the city's Bhatara area on Tuesday, reports UNB.
The incident came into the light on Wednesday when the victim was admitted to the one- stop crisis centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for medical test.
Nurul Muttakin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhatara thana, said the 12-year-old indigenous girl went out of her residence at Nayanagar under Bhatara thana to go to school around 9:30 am.
After returning home around 5:00 pm, she informed her mother about the matter saying that Alamin (22), allegedly raped her.
The incident is believed to have taken place between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm. Later, the victim's mother filed a case with Bhatara thana at night.
Meanwhile, the victim was admitted to the DMCH one- stop crisis centre early Wednesday.
However, police could not arrest the rapist as he managed to flee from the spot.
Meanwhile, Yet in another nefarious incident, a college girl was gang-raped by miscreants in the city's Jatrabari area on Tuesday. Sub-inspector (SI) of Jatrabari thana Abdullah Biswas said the 20-year-old girl along with her boyfriend came to the house of one of the acquaintances of the boy at Dakkhin Kajla near Bishwa Road Masjid at noon from Sonargaon of Narayanganj district.
A group of 7-8 local miscreants stormed into the house at around 2:30 pm and confined the boy to a room. They later violated the girl in turns.
On information, police rushed in and took the girl to the One-stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Later, a team of police, led by SI Abdullah Biswas, arrested three people-Shahadat (20), Faisal (22) and Babu (25) -- from Jatrabari area on Tuesday evening in connection with the incident.
Police also took a woman, tenant of the house where the duo came, to the police station for interrogation.
