Indo-Bangla energy equipment fair due in May

Sunday, 13 March 2011

A three-day Indo-Bangla exhibition on energy and power equipment will begin in the city in May aiming to boost bilateral trade relations between Dhaka and New Delhi. "The forthcoming exhibition will enable energy entrepreneurs to promote and showcase their products," Nakib Ahmed, an advisor of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) said in the city. Speaking at a press conference Saturday, Mr Ahmed said the upcoming exhibition will help bring businesses of two countries under a common platform to promote products and services on the conventional and non-conventional energy production. This type of fair will also allow local entrepreneurs to upgrade technology and knowhow to manufacture quality products at a minimum cost, Abdul Matlub Ahmad, president of India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), said. Bangladeshi businesses involved in energy and power trade would be able to interact with their Indian counterparts for the potential business tie-ups and greater public-private participation, he said. "Bangladeshi manufactures are producing quality electrical equipment but few people know about it," he said, adding the fair will bridge that critical knowledge gap. There exists a large trade gap between Bangladesh and India and one way of reducing it is the increase in Bangladesh's exports to the neighbouring country, Asif Ibrahim, president of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) said. ICC in cooperation with FBCCI, DCCI and IBCCI will organise the show titled 'Indo-Bangla Exhibition on Energy and Electrical Equipment Sector.' - FE Report
