Indo-Bangla seminar in Kolkata Dec 16

A three-day international seminar will begin in Kolkata on December 16, marking the 40th anniversary of Bangladesh's Liberation War, reports UNB. The Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS) is going to organise the seminar at ICCR's Rabindranath Tagore Centre aiming to strengthen ties between India and Bangladesh, according to a Times of India report. Lt Gen (retd) JFR Jacob who headed the Indian Army's Eastern Command during the 1971 war is expected to inaugurate the seminar. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, which will feature eminent Bangladeshi writer and filmmaker Shahriar Kabir, freedom fighter Sarwar Ali, Bangladeshi painter Rafiqun Nabi, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies' Sreeradha Datta. A host of prominent persons from the fields of academia, business, politics, art and culture of the two countries will attend the event.
