Indo-Bangla ties to be strengthened further under Modi regime: Pankaj

TANGAIL, May 23 (BSS): The political and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and India will be strengthened further under the government of Narendra Modi, said Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Pankaj Saran.
"Not only the political and diplomatic relations will get consolidated, the long pending Teesta water sharing issue will also be resolved," he said while talking to journalists after visiting Kumudini Complex at Mirzapur upazila in the district today.
Saran and his mother Promila Bhatan were given a warm reception when they reached the complex at 12.30pm. Both Saran and his mother went round the complex where Kumudini Library, Kumudini Hospital, Nursing School and College, Bharoteshwari Homes, power plant and waste treatment plant ,donated by the Indian government, are located.
The Indian envoy said bilateral trade between the two neighbouring countries will continue to grow in the days to come. Political tensions are likely to be eased and communal harmony will be strengthened further, he added.
Saran said he is pleased to see the social welfare activities, including discipline, education and cultural practice at Kumudini Complex. The Indian government will continue its support to this establishment, he said.
Deputy-Director of Tangail Local Government Division Gautam Chandra Paul, Mirzapur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Afroza Akter Chowdhury, Assistant Commissioner (land) and Executive Magistrate Nasrin Sultana, Director of Kumudini Hospital Srimati Saha, Dr Dulal Chandra Poddar, Dr Pradip Kumar Roy and Dr MA Zaman, among others, were present during the visit of the Indian envoy.
