Indonesian investment in potential sectors sought

President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Abul Kasem Khan has sought Indonesian investment in the potential sectors like communication, paper manufacturing, tourism and power of Bangladesh.
He was talking to Zet Mirzal Zainuddin, ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, when the envoy called on him at his DCCI office in the city Wednesday.
During the meeting, they discussed issues relating to bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Indonesia, said a press release.
Abul Kasem Khan said that Bangladesh and Indonesia, the two friendly Muslim countries, have potentials for expanding present bilateral trade volume.
He proposed for the launch of a direct air link between Dhaka and Jakarta.
He also expressed his desire to send a DCCI delegation to Indonesia soon to boost the present bilateral trade ties.
Zet Mirzal Zainuddin said Indonesia has extended its cooperation to Bangladesh since its independence. Indonesia and Bangladesh are the two countries having a number of commonalities in literature, culture, food habit, he added.
The envoy put emphasis on strengthening the present bilateral relations in trade and commerce between the two friendly countries.
He said the Indonesian government was working to start a direct air link between Dhaka and Jakarta.
He also called upon the Bangladeshi businessmen to import spices, coconut oil, and palm oil from Indonesia.
DCCI Directors Rafiqul Islam Khan, Maj (Retd) Md Yead Ali Fakir and MS Shekil Chowdhury were present during the meeting.
