BHAIRAB, Dec 10: The establishment of an industrial estate at Bhairab has become imperative to accommodate the new entrepreneurs of Bhairab river port town who are seeking facilities to set up new industries for a long time.
About 400 industrial firms of different types and sizes are now running at Bhairab with quality productions. But the expansion of industrial units is being hindered for want of suitable accommodation in the town. The entrepreneurs of Bhairab and other areas are keenly interested to set up industrial firms of different categories here in view of the potentialities of this commercial hub and unique communication network with all parts of the country by rail, road and river. But they are failing to set up new industries for want of suitable accommodation.
The Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation few years ago initiated a plan to establish an industrial estate at Bhairab Kamalpur within the Pourashava area. But later on the proposed plan was shelved by BSCIC for reasons not known to the people of Bhairab.
