Infrastructural difficulties, banking problems, connectivity discussed

A seven-member high level business delegation of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) visited Meghalaya, Assam and West Bengal states of India recently.
The delegation discussed the infrastructural difficulties, banking problems and connectivity issues between the two countries. They also discussed joint ventures specially in the mineral based industry as the Indian states are rich in mineral resources.
The business leaders from both side discussed formation of a task force consisting FBCCI and other trade organisations to carry forward the issues of north-eastern region initiatives.
During the visit, the FBCCI delegation had meetings with the chief ministers of Meghalaya and Assam organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
FBCCI delegation met the Chief Minister of Meghalaya DD Lapang and other senior officials of the state government.
Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya Bindo M Lalong, Minister for Industries Shri Pradyut Bardoloi were present, among others, at the meeting.
A memoramdum of understanding (MoU) was signed for setting up an international standard nursing training college in Bangladesh.
The FBCCI delegation met the leaders of the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI) at Kolkata. FBCCI President Annisul Huq, at the meeting with the BNCCI leaders, emphasised the need for larger export from Bangladesh to India to reduce the huge trade gap between the two countries.
Indian expertise in IT, jute industries needs to be exploited for the betterment of Bangladesh industries, Huq said. Larger trade and investment will lead to a bigger trust between the two large trading partners, he observed. The BNCCI leaders invited the Bangladesh delegation to participate in the Industrial India Trade Fair will be held from December 24, 2009 in Kolkata.
FBCCI as a part of its vision 2021 organised this tour especially to project the opportunities for the foreign investors available here and to inform about our diversified export basket.
The delegation was led by FBCCI President Annisul Huq along with India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) President Abdul Matlub Ahmad and directors of both the chambers.
Other members of the delegation were directors Abdul Haque, Obaidur Rahman and Bijoy Kumar Kejriwal and other members of FBCCI.
