Injured in polls violence, AL man dies in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Dec 31 (UNB): A ruling party leader, who sustained injuries during a clash between Awami League (AL) and BNP activists in Godagari upazila on Sunday, died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital early Monday.
The dead is Ismail Hossain (50), son of Azhar Ali and a resident of Dhomorpur Kajihata area in Deopara union of the upazila and was convener of Ward No-3 Awami League election committee.
Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge (OC) of Godagari Model thana, said Ismail sustained injuries during a clash between AL and BNP men at Lalpur-Dhomorpur School and College polling centre around 12:00 pm.
Later, he was admitted to ICU of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the early morning.
