Inqilab Mancha has called for the dissolution of the current interim government and the formation of a 'national government', citing the need to ensure justice for the July mass killing, necessary reforms, and hold a credible national election.
Sharif Osman Bin Hady, spokesperson for the platform, placed the demand at a press conference held at the Modhur Canteen of Dhaka University at 11:30 am on Saturday.
He proposed the formation of a national government comprising all anti-fascist political parties. "If any political party opposes such a move, they must be held accountable," Hady said.
"If forming a national government proves impossible, a National Consensus Council should be formed with Dr Mohammad Younus as its chief," he suggested.
"Representatives from all parties should be included in the Council, and its powers should be equivalent to that of a cabinet," he commented.
Emphasising the importance of the July proclamation, Hady said, "Banning the Awami League is meaningless without first securing the July proclamation. Without it, the Awami League will continue targeting July protesters."
He also addressed the issue of the Chief Adviser's potential resignation: "The Chief Adviser has no right to resign unilaterally. We brought this government to power. What will happen to us if he resigns? If he wants to resign, first ensure the safety of the July protesters."
