DU CORRESPONDENT | Tuesday, 23 December 2025

Inqilab Moncho staged a protest rally on Monday demanding justice for the killing of its spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi and the trial of all those involved in the murder.
The platform also called for conducting investigation of the killing through formation of a judicial tribunal, also taking assistance from the professional intelligence agencies such as the FBI and Scotland Yard.
It brought out a protest march at 3:20 pm from Shahbagh intersection in the capital.
Protesters started gathering at Shahbagh from around 2:45 pm. The march started from Shahbagh, passed through the TSC area, and terminated at the Central Shaheed Minar. During the march, protesters chanted various slogans remembering Hadi, and presenting demands.
Earlier in the day, at around 12:00 pm, Inqilab Moncho held an emergency press conference in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh, rejecting the briefing by an additional IGP at the Ministry of Home Affairs and the administration's statements regarding the murder of Hadi.
The platform's Member Secretary, Abdullah Al Jaber, presented their demands at the press conference.
DUCSU Liberation War and Democratic Movement Affairs Secretary Fatima Tasnim Jhuma said that the government's response to their demands was unsatisfactory.
She stated that even after 11 days, the government has failed to provide a clear explanation regarding who carried out the murder, who planned it, and who provided support. "We are not satisfied with their response," she said.
Abdullah Al Jaber reiterated the two key demands, raised on Sunday,- the arrest of all individuals involved in the killing of Osman Hadi, and the disclosure, within 24 hours, of all steps taken in this regard by the Home Affairs Adviser and Special Assistant Khoda Bakhsh Chowdhury and indentifying the pro-Awami League elements within the civil and military intelligence agencies and brining them to justice.
Expressing strong anger, he said, "The people of Bangladesh did not take responsibility for keeping this government in power. If this government cannot ensure justice, then there is no justification for its continuation."
Addressing the Chief Adviser, Jaber said, "Such a major killing has taken place, yet we have not heard directly from you what steps you are taking to ensure justice. We have seen your helplessness. You must tell us who made you helpless. You cannot simply rush to an election and leave without ensuring justice."
UNB adds: Law Adviser Asif Nazrul on Monday said the Osman Hadi murder case will be tried under the Speedy Trial Tribunal to ensure quick justice.
In a Facebook post in the afternoon, Asif Nazrul said the trial will be held under the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act, 2002.
Under Section 10 of the law, he said, the trial must be completed within a maximum of 90 days after the submission of the police report.
