Inqilab News Editor on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court here placed Wednesday placed Rabiulla Robi, news editor of daily Inqilab, on a five-day remand in a case filed under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate SM Ashiqur Rahman passed the order when Azizur Rahman, a DB inspector and also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court seeking a 10-day remand.
Earlier, police arrested Rabiullah Robi from the Inqilab office Monday night for publishing a report headlined "A police official enjoying unchallenged authority using the Prime Minister's name".
Proloy Kumar Joardar, Additional Inspector General (planning and research) filed the case with Wari Police Station under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act against the Inqilab Editor, its News Editor, City Editor, Chief Correspondent, concerned reporters and others for running the report in the vernacular daily.
