Inqilab Mancha staged a protest march and a rally on the Dhaka University (DU) campus on Friday, demanding the swift trial of the murder of its spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
As part of a nationwide protest programme, the procession began after Jummah prayers from the courtyard of the Dhaka University Central Mosque. The march proceeded to the Raju Memorial Sculpture where a brief rally was held.
Addressing the gathering, Inquilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said, "The charge sheet, which has been submitted in the case, has portrayed the killing of Osman Hadi as an ordinary incident. We have clearly told the court that we do not accept this charge sheet. We officially reject it."
Criticising the interim government, Jaber said the country's youth had placed their trust in the administration after the July events.
Referring to the Chief Adviser, he said, "You attended Hadi's funeral and said you carry his ideals. If that is true, then it is impossible for you not to know where the killers are. You must clearly tell the nation who was involved in this murder, who planned it, and who assisted in carrying it out."
He further stated that the killing of Hadi was not just an attack on an individual but on the nation itself.
"The killers did not only shoot a man; they shot at Bangladesh, at the national flag, and at the country's sovereignty. Without protecting sovereignty, the people of this country can never be truly free," he added.
