Install pre-paid meters to check power theft, system loss

State Minister for Power Shamsul Haque Tuku Tuesday asks the Bangladesh Power Distribution Company Limited (BPDC) to install pre-paid electric meters to minimise power theft and systems loss.
"Take initiative to replace traditional meters with pre-paid ones as early as possible," he said.
He was addressing the officials of BPDC at its auditorium in the city to elaborate the company's overall electricity distribution status over the year.
"Power theft has been the main drawback for any power distribution company in the country. We all have to get rid of this black practice and that has to be done in the earliest," the state minister added.
He also advised all the DPDC officials to work very hard to ensure maximum utilisation of the available produced power.
