Insurance cos urged to build image among people

Wednesday, 13 October 2010

Planning Minister AK Khandker has urged insurance companies operating in the country to uphold their image among the people by projecting positive aspects properly, reports UNB.
"Common people have a negative concept about insurance…the insurance companies should emphasise projecting positive aspects of insurance among the people of the country", the planning minister said.
The minister made the remark while speaking at a seminar on 'Role of Micro-insurance in Eradicating Poverty' held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city Tuesday.
Rehabilitation and Development Organisation for Landless (RDOL) -- a social development body -- organised the seminar, where Moslehuddin Ahmad presented the keynote paper.
Chaired by RDOL Secretary General Syed Hasanuzzaman Loton, the seminar was addressed, among others, by lawmakers M Ali Ashraf and Asma Jerin Jhumu, and Jibon Bima Corporation Chairman Dr M Sohrab Uddin.
Mr Khandker said, "Poor people always live at risk…they become helpless incurring big financial losses. In such cases, they might relieve their frustration by taking out a micro-insurance policy."
He urged private organisations to come forward in improving the socio-economic condition of the common people of the country.
