Insurance official\\\'s body recovered 5-month after abduction

The body of an insurance official has been recovered from a water body at Sakhipur upazila in Tangail district, five months after his abduction. The dead is Saiful Islam Khan, 45, manager of Sakhipur branch of Progressive Life Insurance Company Ltd. A young man was arrested for his alleged involvement in the abduction and killing of Saiful Islam. Police identified the arrestee as Ashraf Hossain of Kalian village of the upazila. Police said Ashraf along with his associates kidnapped Saiful Islam from Aag Charan village in Kalihati upazila of Tangail on December 11 on his way back home from his workplace. Saiful’s wife Ferdousi Begum lodged a general diary with Sakhipur Police Station on Dec 12. She filed an abduction case against three people, including Ashraf, on April 9 this year. Acting on a tip-off, police held Ashraf at Jaflong in Sylhet district on Sunday night and interrogated him. As per his confessional statement, Saiful’s decomposed body was recovered from Nokhil Beel, a water body, around 2:30pm, according to a news agency.
