Militant attacks on key installations

Intelligence warnings being probed, all stay calm: CTTC

Sunday, 26 April 2026

FE REPORT
Police have started probing intelligence warnings of possible militant attacks on key installations, including Parliament, and urged the public to remain calm.
"We have received this information (warnings of possible militant attacks), and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) cyber intelligence is working on it," CTTC Joint Commissioner Munshi Shahabuddin told the media at a press briefing on Saturday (25 April 2026) at the media centre of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the capital. He urged the public to remain calm.
However, he did not provide any information about identifying any specific organisation or group behind the threat.
"There is no reason to panic. We are working and we will be able to face it," he said.
About strengthening security at important state installations, he said such matters fall under security planning and is not to be disclosed.
"We are working on it. So I think the time has not come to comment," he said while responding to a query whether those planning the attacks have been identified or not.
Mr Shahabuddin said he does not have specific information at the moment about arrests of Armed Forces members.
Earlier during the immediate past interim government, former DMP commissioner SM Sazzat Ali drew attention saying there were no militants in the country and that militant incidents were staged during the Awami League period.
"We are working on it. If we find them, we will definitely take action," he continued while responding about that statement and whether militants exist in the country.
Meanwhile, Police Headquarters late last week issued an intelligence alert warning of possible attacks by members of a banned militant group targeting key state and public installations, including Parliament.
