Inter-ministerial body to execute WB project on trade, businesses

FE Report | Friday, 28 August 2015

The government is set to form an Inter-ministerial Trade and Transportation Facilitation Committee (ITTFC) under a proposed project of the World Bank (WB) for improving the country's trade and businesses, officials said.
The proposed project worth US$ 120 million has four components for different ministries and agencies.
The project will be placed before the WB Board next year for approval.
The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) will implement two components of the project that include Women Trade and ITTFC.
A visiting team of the WB discussed the proposed project and their components with the government officials.
They had a meeting with the officials of the MoC on Wednesday.
"We discussed about the proposed project. We (the government) are going to form ITTFC for improving our trade and businesses," senior secretary of the MoC Hedayetullah Al Mamoon told the FE Wednesday after meeting the visiting regional connectivity project team of the WB.
He said they had discussed the potential role of the MoC to implement two components of the project.
About the proposed project, a member of the WB team told the FE that the Economic Relations Division (ERD), which is under the ministry of finance (MoF), has already given its go-ahead to the proposed project.
"The ERD has given its go-ahead for implementing the proposed project," she said.
She said the WB had already held meetings with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) over the past few months for implementing the proposed project.
