THE way lectures are delivered in the class is important as far as conducive learning environment is concerned. At college or university level, many teachers are following interactive ways of giving lectures and both students and teachers find it very helpful. Interactive classes help students satisfy their queries and be better communicated with their teachers. It also helps teachers in directing and modifying lectures as per the need of the learners. Also, students do not feel monotonous and they feel they are very much with the lecture of the teacher.
Since in an interactive class, teachers welcome questions and students can ask them almost anytime, just with raising hand and getting teacher's consent, students get the scope to satisfy their queries during the class. Thus, understanding one part of the topic helps them understand the following parts of the topics and in that way they listen to the whole lecture at ease.
Interactive classes bridge the gap between students and teachers. Through more and more conversation, students come to know about their teachers and vice-versa. This makes relations between teachers and students more friendly and together it helps them build up and maintain a better learning environment.
Since students give instant feedback in an interactive class, teachers understand their level of understanding. easily. This helps teachers directly and they can modify lectures accordingly and ultimately students gain out of it.
Students have little scope of feeling monotonous in an interactive class which is mainly discussion based, they feel very much attached to the topic of the discussion.
Today, many teachers have introduced marking system in such a class. Those who will participate in the discussion will get more and those who will take part less will get less marks.
Students feel motivated to study from home, they usually want to take part better in an interactive class with their knowledge achieved prior to the class.
By attending an interactive class, students not only learn from their teachers, they can also learn from their classmates. Also, teachers can learn from the students.
After the end of a discussion based class, neither the teacher nor the students feel like they were in a class, rather they feel like they spent time in a 'scholarly adda' and such feeling helps them not to feel tired even if the class was a long one.
