International Agro-tech Fair begins in Jessore

JESSORE, Dec 3: The first ever international Agricultural Technology Fair for promoting awareness and sharing knowledge among farmers and relevant stakeholders was inaugurated at Munshi Meherullah Maidan on Tuesday. Agro-Input Retailers' Network (AIRN) arranged the fair supported by the USAID Agro-Inputs Project in Bangladesh.
Anwar Faruque, additional secretary, Ministry of Agriculture  kicked off  the fair as the chief guest in presence  of Md. Nasir Uddin Khan, additional director, Department of Agricultural Extension, Dr. Md Humayun Kabir, deputy commissioner, Jessore. Mark Treacy, chief of party, USAID Agro Inputs Project was also present at the opening session of the fair.  
The fair will conclude on December 4.
A total of 103 stalls have been set up by 90 national and international companies in the fair. The stalls were displaying quality seeds, fertilisers, crop protection products, aquaculture feed and technologies, animal husbandry feed and technologies, agro-tech machineries etc.. Besides, during the fair a 2-day seminar have been organised on 'Our Green Future: Environmentally Sound, Quality Agro-Inputs for Enhanced Food Production'.
USAID Agro Inputs Project expect that this fair would attract domestic distributors, wholesalers, retailers, farmers, and other potential buyers to learn about innovative, environmentally sound as well as modern agricultural inputs. Availing these innovations and technologies would help them in improving production in agriculture, fisheries, and animal husbandry in upcoming days.
