International Literacy Day observed in districts

TANGAIL Sept 8: International Literacy Day was observed in Tangail Sunday elsewhere in the country in a befitting manner.
District Administration organised different programmes to observe the day. They brought a rally in the morning which paraded through the main streets of the town with colourful festoons and banners, led by Deputy Commissioner Tangail Md. Anisur Rahman Miah.
After the rally a discussion meeting was held at local Bhashani hall. Deputy Commissioner of Tangail Md.Anisur Rahman Miah was present as chief guest, District Education Officer Layla Khanom and Primary Education Officer Sayda Mahfuja Begum were present as special guest. The meeting presided by Additional Deputy Commissioner of (education)Tangail Md. Jahirul Islam.
Our Habiganj Correspondent says: International Literacy Day 2013 was observed in Habiganj Sunday. District Administration and Department of Education jointly organised the programme. A colourful rally was brought out from Nimtola that paraded through main roads in the town. MP Advocate Md. Abu Zahir and Deputy Commissioner Monindra Kishore Mojumder led the rally.
A discussion meeting was held at Deputy Commissioner's conference room with ADC (gen) Md. Abdur Rouf in the chair. Advocate Md. Abu Zahir MP was present as the chief guest. Among others ADC (rev) Dilip Kumar Banik, Education officer Rafiqul Islam spoke on the occasion.
Our Correspondent from Khulna reports: Speakers called for spreading education in the country to make the country illiteracy free by Vision 2021. In a developing country like ours conscious section of the society should come forward to play a vital role in creating awareness as mentors for disseminating positive impact of education among the masses the speakers said in a discussion meeting at the Deputy Commissioner Conference room Sunday arranged by District Administration.
Divisional Commissioner Abdul Jalil addressed the discussion meeting as chief guest and Deputy Commissioner Mezbaha Uddin presided over the meeting. Among others ADC (Education and Development) Elias Hossain, District Primary Education Officer Ashok Kumar and Deputy Director of formal education department Abu Affan took part in the meeting.
