International Women\\\'s Day and prostitution
Thursday, 6 March 2014
International Women's Day will be celebrated in Bangladesh along with the other countries of the world on March 08. The theme of the day this year is: 'Inspiring change'. The Ministry of Women & Children Affairs (MoWCA) and many NGOs will squander a huge amount of money celebrating the day through seminars, processions, gatherings in public places, and distributing leaflets and festoons.
We, the Bangaldeshi women, are called 'nari' and we do not like to be called 'mohila' as the word comes from the word 'mohol', where women used to make men happy through dancing and other activities. The women activists have establish the use of the word 'nari' but their voices are not heard against brothel or prostitution.
Almost every day, many innocent girls and women are trapped and forced to prostitution. Women activists also consider it as a profession for 'nari' which is not supported by Islam as well as other religions. I ask the Bangladeshi women activists to raise a slogan on the occasion of the International Women's Day - 'No brothel in Bangladesh' as women live inhuman lives in the brothels.
