Int'l confce on CCFS begins at DU May 18

A three-day International Conference on Climate Change and Food Security (CCFS) in South Asia will be held on May 18-20 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU), marking the Mujib Borsho.
The inaugural function of the conference will be held at 5pm on May 18. President and Chancellor of DU Md Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the conference virtually as chief guest.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will preside over the function. DU and LEMiRE-BIAM-CNRS, France will jointly organise the conference.
The inaugural function will be addressed by Chairman of International Committee of CCFS Dr Mannava Sivakumar, Charge d'affaires of France Embassy, Dhaka, Guillaume Audren de Kerdel, Country Representative of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of UN, Robert Douglas Simpson, Secretary General of World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Prof Dr Petteri Taalas and Director of Research of LEMiRE-BIAM-CNRS Dr Thierry Heulin.
DU Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr A S M Maksud Kamal will give vote of thanks and chief coordinator of the conference Prof Dr AHM Mustafizur Rahman will deliver welcome speech.
