Int'l plastic fair opens in city tomorrow

The 6th Dhaka International Plastic, Packaging and Printing Industrial Fair-2010 will begin tomorrow (Monday) for showcasing local plastic goods, raw materials and machinery.
"The four-day long fair will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre," Ferdous Wahed, president of Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA) said at a press conference Saturday.
The main objective of the fair is to provide the Bangladesh plastic industry scope for developing new alternative sources of supplies, making new contacts and discovering and capitalising on new opportunities, the association president said.
A total of 350 exhibitors of 200 stalls from leading plastic technology and manufacturing countries including China, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Korea, Turkey and Austria will participate in the fair with their latest technology employed to manufacture plastic sacks, shopping bags, toys and various other household plastic items.
Seminar on "Scopes and opportunities of plastic materials for agriculture and products in Bangladesh" will be held during the fair. BPGMEA and Swisscontact- KATALYST will organise the seminar.
BPGMEA and Chan Chao International Company Ltd (CCICL) are jointly organising the mega event.
The fair will remain open to all from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm daily.
BPGMEA former president Md Jashim Uddin, general secretary Shamim Ahmed and CCICL executive director (Overseas) Judy Wang, among others, were present at the press briefing.
