The 12th edition of the Biman Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Fair (BBTTF)-2024 is all set to kick off next month in Dhaka.
The three-day tourism fair will be held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) on Feb 1-3.
The fair is being organised by the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), the trade body of the country's tourism industry.
Bangladesh's national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines has become the title sponsor of this year's event, organisers said at a press conference at a city hotel on Wednesday.
Senior Vice President of FBCCI, Md Amin Helaly was present as the chief guest and TOAB President Shiblul Azam Koreshi presided over the press conference.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed to this effect by TOAB President Shiblul Azam Koreshi and Acting Director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd Marketing and Sales Department Mohammed Salahuddin at the event.
Md Anwar Hossain, Director (Trade and Fair) of TOAB explained the context and overall preparation of the fair.
BBTTF-2024 Co-Sponsor Saimon Holidays's CEO Afsia Jannat Saleh said that Saudi Arabia had set a new goal to attract tourists outside religious tourism.
About 58 per cent of their total tourists were outside religious tourism, as they promoted their other tourist spots and cities, said Afsia.
She urged Bangladesh to promote its tourist spots with an international standard tourism environment.
Admitting that Bangladesh couldn't have a significant number of international tourists in recent years, Md Anwar Hossain said, adding that his organisation was working with the government to simplify obtaining permission for travel in hill tracks as international tourists had interest to visit the places there.
Speakers also emphasized on security, clean environment, fair fare in accommodation, with an eye to attract international as well as local tourists.
Jamil Ahamed, Director, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, and Md Naimul Huq, Superintendent of Police, Dhaka Region Tourist Police, spoke at the event, among others.
At this year's BBTTF- 2024, around 100 local and foreign organizations and institutions will display their products and services at 150 booths and pavilions.
During the fair, various attractive tour packages and special discount air tickets would be available to buy for visitors.
