Int\\\'l trade show on leather tech begins tomorrow

A three-day international tradeshow styled 'Leathertech Bangladesh 2014' begins tomorrow (Thursday) at Bangabandu International Conference Centre with the objective of tapping the sector's potential on the global market.
Nearly 100 exhibitors from India, China, Turkey, Japan, Italy Singapore, Sri Lanka and host Bangladesh are expected to showcase leather, footwear machinery and components, dyes and chemicals, accessories and allied products at this international event.
"This international event is targeted at the entire leather-industry value chain in the country," it was stated at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters Unity office in the city Tuesday.
Senior Secretary the Ministry of Commerce Hedayetullah Al Mamoon is expected to inaugurate the fair as chief guest.
ASK Trade and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd is organising the second edition of the International Tradeshow on Machinery, Components, Dyes, Chemicals, Accessories and allied products for leather, footwear and leather goods.
ASK directors Nanda Gopal K and Tipu Sultan Bhuiyan and Bangladesh Leather Goods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association executive director Kazi Rawshan Ara were present at the press conference.
The sector generates direct and indirect employment for about 850,000 people, including a significant number of women, particularly in the leather-product industries.
At the fair, nearly 100 exhibitors will showcase latest technologies and processes from across the world and bridge the information gap.
There will be around 200 stalls. The fair will remain open from 11 am to 7 pm. Visitors can get in without any entry fee.
