Intl Women's SME Expo inaugurated

Chittagong, Dec 01: The month long International Women's SME Expo Bangladesh started today at the Railway Pologround at Kadamtali.
Primary and mass education minister Dr. Afsarul Amin inaugurated the exposition by cutting ribbon at the entrance of the fair this evening.
Earlier, the minister, while addressing an enthusiastic audience and women entrepreneurs said the government likes to see the women at the pioneering role in the political, social and economic field.
He said 60 per cent of the total students were female children in the just concluded primary public examination and this is an indication that the womenfolk would one day dominate the society.
He strongly criticized a section of the business community who wanted to halt the Women Expo through issuing a stay order on their activities.
Presided over by Monowara Hakim Ali the meeting was addressed by CDA chairman Abdus Salam, vice chancellor of Asian University for Women Dr. Hun N Kho, ambassador of Indonesia in Bangladesh Z Mirzel Joynuddin, Chemon Ara Tayeb MP, SME foundation chairman Aftabul Islam, FBCCI first vice president Abul Kashem Ahmed and vice president Abu Alam as special guests and address of welcome by Mrs. Gulshan Ali, senior vice president of the Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
