Introductory meeting of Mobile Money Consultative Group held

The introductory meeting of Mobile Money Consultative Group was held Wednesday at FHI 360's Bangladesh country office.
Organized by USAID's Mobile Solutions Technical Assistance and Research (mSTAR) project, the meeting was attended by 21 participants from different donor agencies, development and financial organisations, including USAID, DFID, Gates Foundation, BRAC's Social Innovation Lab, Save the Children, English in Action, ACDI/VOCA, HelpAge International Bangladesh, Char Livelihood Program (CLP) and Business Finance for the Poor in Bangladesh (BFP-B), according to press statement.
The key objective of this meeting was to set the foundation for the group, which aims to facilitate the creation a more inclusive mobile money ecosystem in Bangladesh. The group will serve as a platform through which stakeholders can share their experiences using mobile money, as well as to identify opportunities for new product innovations and barriers that may exist in effectively using existing products to reach remote and underserved populations.
The project Team Lead M. Ataur Rahman shared an overview with the participants of the mSTAR project in Bangladesh.
The meeting concluded with the note that digital payments, such as mobile money, could be successfully integrated into development projects irrespective of initial barriers.
FHI 360's Mobile Solutions Technical Assistance and Research (mSTAR) project is a broad, flexible, and responsive technical assistance and action learning program that fosters the rapid adoption and scale-up of mobile money, mobile technologies and mobile data solutions, in developing countries.
