Inu blasts Khaleda\\\'s silence over war crimes verdict on Sayedee

Friday, 19 September 2014

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Thursday said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's silence over the Supreme Court's sentencing Delwar Hossain Sayeede to jail-unto-death proves her support to the war criminals, reports UNB.
"Khaleda Zia's silence over the verdict on Sayeede proves that she is on the side of the war criminals," Inu told reporters at the Secretariat.
In a split verdict a five-judge SC bench on Wednesday commuted Jamaat leader Sayedee's death sentence to imprisonment until death.  The death penalty was handed to Sayedee by the International War Crimes Tribunal last year for his crimes against humanity during the 1971 War of Liberation.
Inu said whether the verdict is death sentence or imprisonment-until-death does not matter much as the judgment has proved Sayeede is a war criminal.
He said although the verdict failed his expectation, he is grateful to the Supreme Court for confirming that Sayedee is a war criminal.
