‘Invest Maestro’ final round today

The final round of the inter-university business case competition titled "Invest Maestro", sponsored by the Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM), takes place at the BICM in the city today (Monday).
A panel of judges on Saturday selected top 10 teams for the round based on their performances.
Earlier, the institute had selected 30 teams for the semifinals through an online round. Some 202 teams participated in the online round from 34 different public and private universities.
The 10 finalists are: Goldman and Sachs from the IBA of the University of Dhaka, Fantastic-4 from the University of BRAC, Team Equilibrium from the Department of Finance of the University of Dhaka, Team Venture from the NSU, Team Leading from the Leading University in Sylhet, the Arbitrageurs from the Department of Finance of the University of Dhaka, Dream Hoarders from the Department of Accounting of the University of Rajshahi, Gringotts' Goblins from the IBA of the University of Dhaka, Captive of Coins from the IBA of the Jahangirnagar University, and Consensus from the IBA of the University of Dhaka.
The BICM will select top three from among the participating teams in the last round.

The prize money for the champion team, first runners-up and second runners-up will be Tk 100,000, Tk 50,000 and Tk 30,000 respectively.
Kashfia Sharmeen, a coordinator of the competition, told the FE that the initial plan was to pick eight teams, but the panel of judges extended the list to 10 because of outstanding performances by the participating teams.
She expected the final round to be more enjoyable.
"We'll announce the winners at a gala programme to be held at Hotel Westin in the city the day after tomorrow (Tuesday)," she said on Sunday.
Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Prof. Dr. M Khairul Hossain joined the inaugural ceremony of the seminal round as the chief guest, with BICM Executive President Mohammad Abdul Hannan Zoarder in the chair.
Speaking on the ocasion, the BSEC chairman said the market would introduce new securities like derivatives in future, for which skilled people are required.
"We will also make the stock market fully digital in future while professionalism and efficiency will be necessary to derive optimum outcome."
He said the competition would pave the way for producing skilled people for the market.
The BICM along with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) organised the competition to attract young people to build their careers in the local capital market.
