The investigation report of the graft case filed by the Anti-corruption Commission against Dhaka City Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka and his family will be submitted early next week recommending submission of charge sheet against all the four accused, reports UNB.
"The investigation into the case against Khoka and his family is at the final phase. The investigation officer (IO) of the case, Shamsul Islam, will submit the memo of evidence (investigation report) early next week (June 15 or June 16)," a competent source told the news agency.
Responding to a question, the source said during the investigation the involvement of all the four initially accused was found. "Therefore, there'll be recommendation of submitting the charge sheet against the quartet."
The charge sheet, subject to the approval by the ACC, will be submitted against Khoka, his wife, son and daughter, the source said.
The source also said the IO would interview the accused in connection with the case before submission of the investigation report.
On April 2, the anti-graft watchdog filed the first information report with the Ramna police station against the Dhaka city mayor, his wife Ismat Ara, son Ishraque Hossain and daughter Sarika Sadek for amassing huge illegal wealth and concealment of information.
ACC assistant director Samsul Alam, who was later appointed the IO of the case, filed the case accusing Khoka of acquiring wealth worth about Tk 175.8 million beyond his known sources of income and concealment of information of assets worth about 100 million.
His wife, daughter and son were accused of assisting the mayor in committing the offences. Khoka's son Ishraque is learnt to have been residing abroad.
