Investment in EPZs rises by $152m this year

The investment in the country's Export Processing Zones (EPZs) increased this year by $152.05 million. Last year the increase rose by $112.89 million, official sources said. The deputy general manager (public relations) of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Najma Binte Rahman said that there are 261 running factories in the EPZs in the country. Within a few days another 157 factories will go into production. In the meantime, the real investment in all the EPZs stands at $1132 million. There are 59 new investment proposals. She added that Adamjee EPZ has been divided into 22 sections. — BSS
