IO submits war crimes report on Jamaat

The International Crimes Tribunals investigator on Thursday submitted his report to the Chief Prosecutor, identifying a seven-count charge of crimes against humanity, including genocide, carried out by Jamaat-e-Islami, its associate bodies and mouthpiece – daily Sangram – during the Liberation War in 1971. Investigator Additional SP Matiur Rahman handed over the report, containing 373 pages along with a series of documents, to Chief Prosecutor Golam Arif Tipoo at his office. In the report, prepared in 219 days, the investigator sought ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and its affiliates and confiscation of the wealth of the offenders. The investigation began on August 18 last year. The investigator also submitted a list of prosecution witnesses numbering 70 to prove the charges before the tribunal, according to a news agency.
