Is Lactogen safe?
Sunday, 2 November 2008
Of late, powdered milk used as baby food, has become a source of great concern because of contamination. People are scared to feed their babies as it can harm our kids. As such, people are being advised by doctors to rely on alternative foods. The High Court in a recent order banned the display and sale of eight foreign brands of milk powder for melamine contamination.
Thousands of kids have been drinking those brands of milk powder. I wonder how irresponsible BSTI and other regulatory authorities had been, so long, to allow the sale of such cotaminated milk. What surprises me even more is that, many other brands of milk are bypassing the testing for melamine contamination. Does it mean that they are safe? Or it simply keeps us in the dark? Lactogen, is among the brands most widely fed to the babies of the 0-3 age group. The media is silent on Lactogen. Is Lactogen safe? My 10-month old baby drinks Lactogen-2. I would request BSTI, BCSIR and other bodies to test Lactogen and let thousands of anxious parents know the actual status of Lactogen as a baby formula. Nido, fortified with melamine, is marketed by Nestle. Lactogen is also a product of Nestle. This makes us all the more suspicious. Please help us, we cannot gamble with the lives of our babies.
