Is securing second class or division in exams a crime?

Saturday, 14 March 2009

Recently, students who secured second classes in their academic exams are finding hard times getting jobs as almost all employers, both in the government and in the autonomous organizations, in many cases in the limited companies, want the candidates to have minimum two first classes or divisions to qualify for any job.

Granted academic feat is appreciated, but it does not also mean that second class or division holders have no right to apply for the advertised posts to prove themselves. Bangladesh Public Service Commission and the Judiciary select efficient officials for the Republic. They allow even one third Class or Division in academic career, but the others are blindly denying this and the authority itself is silent.

Merit and result are or two different inhabitants of two different planets. But depriving the ones with not-so-glamorous result is the demonstration of tunnel vision. Considering our untold sufferings, it is hoped that the authority concerned must take initiative to meet the demand.
