Ishraq pledges to resolve gas crisis, waterlogging in Old Dhaka

Saturday, 7 February 2026

Engineer Ishraq Hossain, the BNP-nominated candidate for Dhaka-6, has promised to revitalise old Dhaka by addressing waterlogging, the acute gas crisis, and drug abuse, reports BSS.
In an interview with the agencies at Baldha Garden, the candidate outlined his development plans for the constituency, which covers Sutrapur, Wari, Gandaria, and parts of Kotwali, reports BSS.
Ishraq said the gas crisis is the main concern for residents, especially homemakers.
"Many parts of the constituency still rely on 70-year-old pipelines that cannot meet the demands of modern high-rise buildings. Upgrading utility infrastructure is my top priority," he added, pledging to ensure normal gas supply through local pipeline improvements and advocacy at the national level.
To combat the terrible traffic jams caused by unplanned urbanisation and failure to follow building codes, Ishraq mentioned.
