Islami Insurance earns over Tk 24.7m net profit in '06

The 7th annual general meeting (AGM) of Islami Insurance Bangladesh Limited was held at its head office in the city recently.
Chairman of the company Mohammad Sayeed presided over the AGM.
The AGM was attended, among others, by vice chairmen M Tajul Islam and Md Ismail Nawab, executive committee Chairman Tofazzal Hossain, claims committee Chairman Gazi Belayet Hossain, Managing Director SA Khan, DMD Md Shamsuzzaman and directors Md Abdul Hannan, Abul Kalam and Abdul Halim.
The chairman, in his speech, said the company posted a premium of Tk 198.1 million (19.81 crore), exceptional loss reserve of Tk 130 million and posted 14.77 per cent increase in total asset in 2006.
During the period, the company secured a good position among the existing general insurance companies by earning a net profit of over Tk 24.7 million.
The company has been established to provide facilities of property insurance based on Islamic Shariah to the business community and general public, he added.
The shareholders expressed their satisfaction over the performance of the company and also their confidence in the board. They approved the annual accounts and balancesheet of the company for the year that ended on December 31, 2006
