Islamic banking, accounting courses begin

The inaugural ceremony of 'Certified Islamic Professional Accountant' (CIPA) course and the 'Certificate Course on Islamic Banking & Finance (CIBF)' (9th phase) was held at the Central Shariah Board Training Institute in Dhaka recently, says a press release.
The CIPA course is instituted by the Bahrain-based Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) and the CIBF is instituted by the Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh (CSBIB).
Central Shariah Board's Vice-chairman Principal Dr Md Anwar Hosain Molla presided over the ceremony while Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management's (BIBM) Director General Md Akhtaruzzaman was the chief guest.
Former executive director of Bangladesh Bank Md Abdul Awwal Sarker, Director General of the Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) M Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the Shari'ah Supervisory Committee of ICB Islamic Bank Limited, Dhaka Bank PLC & Bank Asia Limited Md Fariduddin Ahmed, Senior Manager at Capacity Building Program of AAOIFI Mughees Shaukat, Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC and Global Islami Bank PLC Shariah Supervisory Committee's Member Secretary Prof Dr Mohammad Abdus Samad, and BIBM faculty member Dr Md Mahabbat Hossain were present as special guests.
Secretary General of the Central Shariah Board Md Abdullah Sharif delivered the welcome speech at the event moderated by Central Shariah Board In-charge (Administration) Syed Sakhawatul Islam.
Chief guest Md Akhtaruzzaman said, in his speech, that Islamic banking is a rapidly developing industry.
Principal Md Anwar Hosain Molla said all concerned should improve their qualifications through continuous study.
He advised all to work with sincerity and dedication to contribute to the excellence of the banking and finance industry.
