Nine like-minded Islamist parties including Awami Olama League (AOL) Saturday demanded enactment of anti-shutdown act immediately, reports BSS.
They made the demand at a human chain formed in front of the National Press Club in the city.
"It is the high time to enact an anti-shutdown act for protecting the country and its people from the vengeance of Jamaat-Shibir," speakers said.
AOL vice-presidents Maulana Abu Bakar Siddique, Muhammad Abdus Sattar, general secretary Muhammad Abul Hasan Sheikh addressed the human chain, among others.
The speakers thanked the government for executing the death verdict against Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah for his crimes against humanity, and also urged for completing trials of rest of the war criminals soon.
