Leaders in the Information Technology (IT) sector Thursday asked the government to increase the allocation for the Equity Entrepreneurship Fund (EEF) to Tk. 3.0 billion for the upcoming budget of FY 2010-11.
Calling for greater access to IT at all the educational institutions, they also urged the government to create a Tk 5.0 billion fund for providing collateral-free loan for the procurement of computer and related materials for the school students.
They made the demands to the Finance Minister AMA Muhith on the eve of the City IT Fair- one of the biggest exhibitions of IT and IT related equipments, which has kicked off at the BCS Computer City in the capital.
"All the schools and other educational institutions should have at least one well equipped computer laboratory to meet the government's target of providing computer access to all school children within a short period of time" the finance minister said on the occasion.
