Italy to consider seasonal visa for BD workers

Italian ambassador to Bangladesh Giorgio Guglielmino today said growing ties between his country and the business houses in the port city are essential considering its commercial importance. He was exchanging opinions with the directors of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) at the CCCI auditorium. CCCI president Morshed Murad Ibrahim welcomed the Italian ambassador and members of the entourage at the Chamber. The ambassador praised the role of Bangladesh workers in building Italy's economy and informed the CCCI directors that his government was considering issuing seasonal visa for the workers of Bangladesh. Ibrahim said both Italy and Bangladesh are enjoying a cordial and friendly bilateral relation and thanked Italian government for extending cooperation in different sectors for attaining economic development of Bangladesh. He told the ambassador that Bangladesh has a chunk of hard working, dutiful, skilled and semi skilled workforce and sought his special initiative for employment of more skilled and semi skilled workers from Bangladesh. He invited the Chittagong business people through the CCCI to participate in the Milan Trade Fair this year. CCCI senior vice president Mahbubul Alam, vice president Nurun Newaj Selim, Captain Shafi Chowdhury, Mahfuzul Huq Shah and Italy's honourary consul general in Chittagong Salman Ispahani also spoke on the occasion. - Our Correspondent
