ITEE contest for IT professionals held

An Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE) contest jointly organised by Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was held in the city Saturday.
Some 239 students from different universities and 30 employees from different companies working in the information and communication technology (ICT) field took part in the contest, said a press release.
The contest was organised to assess the current status of IT professionals in Bangladesh.
State Minister for Science and Information and Communication Technology Yafesh Osman was present at the contest as the chief guest.
Among others, Japan Ambassador in Bangladesh Tamotsu Shinotsuka and Resident Representative of JICA Office in Bangladesh Dr Takao Toda were present on the occasion.
The pass mark of the contest was 60 per cent or more points, and the ratio of the successful candidates in the contest was 11.52 per cent or 31 persons.
Considering about 10 per cent in the pass rate of the same contest recently held in Japan, it turned out that ICT skill of Bangladesh is equal to those of Japan.
Prizes were distributed among 20 highest scorers in the first-ever contest in the country where BUET emerged most prize winners.
ITEE is a national examination for ICT professionals in Japan. ITEE has been introduced in 12 Asian countries until now, the release added.
