ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, July 20 (UNB): Bangladesh Chhatra League's Islamic University (IU) unit in Kushtia on Saturday demanded punishment of tourism and hospitality management department's Professor M Mahbubul Arefin.
Two audio clips, purportedly containing the teacher's salacious conversation with a female student, went viral on Facebook on June 28.
Around a 100 Chhatra League activists, led by IU unit President Robiul Islam Polash and General Secretary Rakibul Islam Rakib, demanded that Vice-Chancellor Professor Rashid Askari take action against Arefin.
"Incidents of sexual harassment will increase at the university if the administration fails to take action," Polash said. "We'll intensify our demonstration if our demand isn't met."
VC Askari told UNB that the university would take necessary steps. "We'll investigate the incident. No-one will be spared," he said.
