IU VC receives death threat

ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Sept 9 (BSS)-Professor M Alauddin, vice- chancellor of the Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia, today received a death threat over his cell phone.
IU sources said one caller identifying him as Himu of Patharghata in Chittagong district issued the threat to the VC at about 2pm over Alauddin's grameenphone mobile set.
The caller asked the VC to appoint one Abdur Rahim Mian as president of the managing committee of Subhania Alia Kamil Madrasah of Patharghata.
Himu also threatened the VC to kill him along with his family members if his demand was not met. The same person also phoned the VC's wife at her house in Kushtia and also issued similar threat, the sources added.
When contacted, Prof M Alauddin admitted the incident and said he was preparing to file a case in this regard.
Registrar of the University Dr Moslem Uddin said they have informed the matter to RAB-12 and police super in Kushtia.
