Jahangirnagar University Day observed

Jahangirnagar University (JU) Day was observed through various programmes on the campus Monday, marking the university's 44th founding anniversary.
JU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Farzana Islam inaugurated the function of the university day on the premises of Business Studies Faculty through hoisting the national and university flags amidst rendition of the national anthem.
With the slogan "Nobiner Joy Hok Probiner Hat Dhore", a victory procession, with participation of the students, teachers and officials, marched through the whole campus.
The JU VC said, "Over 44 years of establishment of the university, teachers and students have been contributing at national and international levels to various sectors."
"The university's reputation and glory have also increased," she added.
Addressing a rally, JU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abul Hossain vowed to go forward establishing JU as a model among all universities overcoming all hindrances.
The daylong programme included hoisting of the national and university flags, a colourful procession, discussion and cultural function.
Founded on August 20, 1970, Jahangirnagar University formally began its academic activities as a residential university on January 12, 1971 with four departments, 21 teachers and 150 students and three residential halls.
