JAICAF keen to facilitate IT-based agriculture services in B'desh

Japan Association for International Collaboration of Agriculture and Forestry (JAICAF) has expressed its interest to help Bangladesh in disseminating technology-based agricultural information services to farmers in the country, reports UNB.
They showed the interest when a two-member JAICAF delegation, led by its Technical Advisor Kichiji Yajima, met with Agriculture Information Service (AIS) Director M Nazrul Islam at the latter's office Wednesday.
The delegation also showed interest in setting up rural community radio, agriculture information and communication centre to reach IT-based agriculture services at the farmers' doorsteps.
Talking to the news agency, the AIS director said that the Japanese delegation lauded the AIS initiative on farmers TV and AIS website featuring agriculture related information.
He said the Japanese team agreed to cooperate with the government in empowering the farmers through their introduction to the agriculture related information as well as to help the government's vision in building digital Bangladesh.
