Jalalabad Gas earns over Tk 3.09b revenue

Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited, Sylhet has earned a total revenue of Tk 3.0927 billion (309.27 crore) in the fiscal 2007-08 consisting sale revenue of Tk 2.9453 billion and other income of 147.4 million.
This was disclosed at the 22nd annual general meeting (AGM) of the company at a city hotel recently, said a press release.
Chairman of the company's board of directors and Joint Secretary for Energy and Mineral Resources Division Md Ataur Rahman presided over the meeting.
Shareholders, directors and other senior officials of the company took part in the meeting.
Audited account of the company was approved in the meeting.
During the fiscal, the company earned a pre-tax profit of Tk 314.3 million, which was 5.75 per cent higher than the previous year.
The company also contributed Tk 301.1 million to the government exchequer in the form of dividend, income tax and import duty.
The company laid nearly 140-kilometre gas pipeline during the year under review.
