Jalil is retiring from politics

Awami League general secretary Abdul Jalil is retiring from politics, his wife said Thursday. Reading out a written statement of the detained leader before journalists, Rehana Jalil said her husband's life is at stake in the prison. "I have decided to retire from politics because of my physical condition and looking at the faces of my children and family," Rehana quoted Jalil as saying at a press briefing at their Gulshan home. Rehana asked the president and the chief adviser to release her husband from the jail.
