Jalil's graft case stayed for two months

Thursday, 21 August 2008

The High Court (HC) Wednesday stayed for two months the proceedings of an ill-gotten wealth case against Bangladesh Awami League general secretary Abdul Jalil, now in Singapore on parole for treatment, reports UNB.

Staying the case proceedings following a petition to quash the case, a HC Division Bench comprising justice Sharif Uddin Chaklader and justice M Emdadul Haque Azad issued a rule upon the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) to explain why the case "should not be quashed."
