Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Thursday said Jamaat and BNP should work together for the next five years to restore a stable environment in the country, reports UNB.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman at the BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office, Dr Shafiqur said, "For the sake of our much-loved country, we have worked together in the past, and InshaAllah, we will work together in the future. Tarique Rahman and the BNP leadership have expressed the same aspiration."
He added that both parties discussed ways to collectively restore a favourable environment for national stability over the next five years. "We need to think about whether we can all come together to bring back a good environment for the sake of the nation."
Shafiqur stated that Jamaat and BNP leaders will meet after the national election and February referendum.
"Immediately after the election and before the formation of the government, we will sit together to discuss national interests, think for the nation, and take decisions accordingly," he added.
