Jamaat leader arrested

Police arrested a local Jamaat-e-Islami leader in Sylhet city on Saturday. Shah Poran Police Station’s officer-in-charge Shakhawat Hossain said they arrested Fakhrul Islam, acting secretary of Sylhet city unit Jamaat, from the city’s Upashahar area around 3:00pm. Earlier, warrant of arrest was issued against the Jamaat leader in six cases, said the OC. Fakhrul is younger brother of Jamaat’s central unit secretary (acting) Shafiqur Rahman, according to UNB.
